The ABS light goes on to tell you that the self-diagnostics in the car thnks that there is something wrong with the ABS bit of the braking system. Apart from not having the ABS function right now there is no damage done to your car.

ABS lights might be on if you drove with your emergency brake engaged. The heat form the friction of this would set off the sensors. The ABS has probably set a code for a failed rear axle speed sensor. Replace the speed sensor on the rear axle.
There Could Be Somthing Wrong With the engine. You should take it to a repair shop or something.
These are known for having bad abs connections at the sensor and the sensors also fail frequently.
First think to check would the be the ABS sensors for damage or corroded wires, and the pulse wheels next to them for rust and corrosion buildup.
