Depends on the type of dancing. If you are going dancing at a club, then definitely not. If, however, you are going to a hoedown or participating in formal ballroom dance finals, then yes, you need a partner in order to participate effectively.
Strict Tempo!!
It always depends on which dance you're talking about. If it's rock and roll, swing or jive, the shoes will be different from, say, Tango or Salsa. Zioso has many styles of dance shoes that fit the type of dance you need.
Well, the stereo type is that we all dance to boring classical music. Which we sometimes do. But we can dance to old or new songs that carry the beat/ rhythm that we need. So pretty much any music is okay to dance to as long as it fits the guidelines we need!
Dancing in general is artistic. Some examples of dancing include ballroom, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and folk. A dancer expresses themselves through the art of dance.

It depends on whether or not you're doing classes that require you to find a partner. Most classes will have someone to dance with you. You may not even be doing classes and are learning of your own accord, if so, yes you might like to find a partner to dance with.

Coming from a ballroom dance teacher, I would recommend you double check with the instructor. I myself have only taught classes where you do not need partners and I have students rotating partners. I prefer my students learning how to dance with multiple partners. That being said, I know of teachers who prefer to teach couples only classes.
