His death sparked an outpouring of public outrage and a spontaneous revolution, known as the People Power Revolution, which eventually forced Marcos to flee the country and end his 21-year rule. Aquino's legacy lives on in the Philippines, and he is remembered as a champion of democracy and a symbol of resistance against the dictatorship of Marcos. He is also remembered for his courage in standing up to tyranny and oppression, and sacrificing his own life for the cause of freedom and democracy.
