According to the College Board The University of South Dakota has the appropriate regional accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

A number of colleges have "Trinity" in the name. These should not be confused with this institution. This "school" now operates as Bronte International University in several states.

According to Wikipedia, the specific organization known as Trinity College and University, based in South Dakota, never was accredited. It is not affiliated in any way with the University of South Dakota. Check out the Oregon State Student Assistance Commision Office of Degree Authorization's helpful pages at http://www.osac.state.or.us/oda/diploma_mill.html and http://www.osac.state.or.us/oda/unaccredited.aspx.

If you intend to transfer these credits to another college, go on to graduate school, or to use these college credits to qualify for an employment position, a wise practice is to check with that second college, or employer, to see how they will regard the college you are considering. Lack of accreditation may well mean a justly poor reputation.
