Can a 14 yr old Catholic convert to the Church of England and if so how?

Of course! It is very simple. Find an Anglican Church or 'Church of England' (especially one that has a good youth programme or youth worship, and simply turn up. Unlike the Roman Catholic Church which tends to exclude those that are not Catholics, the Anglican Church will welcome you with open arms (or, at least shoulddo - no one is perfect!). You do not have to go through any particular 'initiation ceremony' or conversion process. If you are not baptised you may be encouraged to consider adult baptism at a later date, but other than that, if you wish to make a commitment to love God and follow and accept Jesus as your Saviour, then the Anglican Church will welcome you and meet you where you are in your faith. God bless you in your search.

Where did the name for the episcopal church come from?

The Episcopal Church is the American province of the Anglican Communion. When the Anglican Church came to America, the church was re-named after the American Revolution in order to distinguish itself from the English Church (The Church of England). The Term 'Episcopal' was chosen since the Anglican Church has an 'episcopal' governmental structure. The word 'episcopal' or 'episcopos' is Greek for 'bishop.' Thus all churches that are governed by bishops have an 'episcopal' structure. It seemed like a logical choice of term to identify the new Anglican province in the America's. Thus, the name 'The Episcopal Church' was chosen. However, it's full legal title, which is used on formal documents and resolutions is 'The Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America'However, for the sake of ease, this title is used solely on legal documents and resolutions. In the 1950's there was great debate as to drop the term 'protestant' from the title. The argument was that the Anglican Church came out of The English Reformation as opposed to the Protestant Reformation. The English Reformation, which gave birth to the Anglican Communion, broke ties with Rome over politics, not theology. The Protestant Reformation, which was started by Martin Luther, began as an uprising due to theological corruption in the Roman Church. Ultimately the resolution was passed, and the term 'protestant' was dropped from the title. Currently, the church is known best as just 'The Episcopal Church'. ---- ; Main Entry : epis·co·pal ; Pronunciation : \i-ˈpis-kə-pəl, -bəl\ ; Function : adjective ; Etymology : Middle English, from Late Latin episcopalis, from episcopus bishop - more at bishop ; Date : 15th century 1: of or relating to a bishop2: of, having, or constituting government by bishops3capitalized : of or relating to The Episcopal Church representing the Anglican communion in the United States

The date when Henry VIII begins the Anglican Church?

Henry the Eighth didn't start the Anglican Church. The Church in England is one of the oldest Catholic Churches [Communion is a better word, or description.] in the world. According to S. Dorotheus of Tyre, 303AD., S.Simon Zelotes , brother of Christ and his Apostle, was just one who brought the Catholic faith to this country! Gildas the Celtic Historian writing in the fifth century tells us that the Catholic Church was here by about 37 AD. Aristobulos, who is mentioned in Paul's Epistle to the Romans was first bishop! So Henry was a bit late on the scene to be a founder! In effect the Anglican Church is some two thousand years old!

Is Anglican church part of Eastern Orthodox Church?

The generally accepted date for the split between what is now called the Roman Catholic Church and what is now called the Eastern Orthodox Church is 1054 AD. The Anglican Church is generally considered to come from the time of King Henry VIII in the 1530s, although some would say that the Anglicanism originated in the Elizabethan Settlement of 1559, since Queen Mary effectively returned the Church of England to Roman Catholicism earlier in the 1550s. In any case, since the people who subsequently became Church of England were previously Roman Catholic, and not Eastern Orthodox, and since the Orthodox and the Catholics parted ways in 1054, you might say that the Anglicans broke away from the Roman Catholics, but it would be extremely difficult to say the Anglicans broke away from the Eastern Orthodox.

Is a saint's feast day determined by the birth date or death date?

Sometimes the date the saint entered Heaven (death date) is used as the feast date. However, this is not the rule. In many cases, as with the ancient saints, the date of death is not known. Sometimes the date reflects some other important event in the life of the person. Blessed John Newman, who was recently beatified, has a memorial on the anniversary date of when he left the Anglican Church and became a Catholic. In other cases, there seems to be no reason behind the chosen date. The Sacred Congregation for the Causes of Saints sometimes seems to just choose a date at random.
