On the 28th of October 1944, Anne Frank, Margot Frank and Auguste van Pels were three from more than 8,000 that were chosen to be transported to Bergen-Belsen. Edith Frank was left behind at Auschwitz and later died of starvation.
In March 1945, a decease called typhus epidemic spread through the camp and ended up killing over 17,000 prisoners. Anne and her sister were part of those that died. It is said that Margot fell from her bunk while she was sick and was killed by shock. Only a few days later, Anne also passed away. Only weeks later, on April 15th 1945, the camp was liberated by British troops. The camp was later burned to prevent further spread of the decease.
