A college professor would need to have completed college with at least a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, although there are exceptions. One would also likely have taken many courses in the subject(s) in which he or she plans to teach. In addition, a college professor has often spent many years working in his or her area of specialty before ever considering becoming a professor.

I dont really know exactly but you have to be really goood apparently. Plus I have once been told that you have to get a job in the collage then your promoted, then your promoted again and again. the prossess shoud takes several years, but this of course depends on the collage. If your realy clever and you apply for a really really bad one, your more likely to become a professor than if you apply for a job at somewhere like cambridge or oxfed!
