In systemic circulation blood carries oxygen, glucose, amine acids, fatty acids and glycerol with them along with Vitamins and minerals in blood. At proximal end of the capillary, blood pressure about 35 mm of Hg. Through which fluid filters out in interstitial compartment. This compartment is directly in contact with body cells. It gives oxygen and nutrition to cells and carry out waste products of metabolism and carbon bi oxide. Mean pressure in this compartment is about 25 mm of Hg. This fluid enters the capillary at distal end, where blood pressure is about 15 mm of Hg. Due to oncotic pressure of blood, which is about 20 mm of Hg. So there is pressure gradient from proximal end of capillary to interstitial space to distal end of capillary.
In the red blood cells the compound hemoglobin binds to oxygen so that when the heart pumps blood it is primarily delivering oxygen.
