There are hundreds of species of tarantulas all over the world. They can be found in the arid desert regions of Mexico and the southwestern United States, the tropical forests of South and Central America, in the Caribbean islands, in parts of Africa and the Indian subcontinent as well as Australia. In the US there are 30 species of tarantulas and they can be found mainly in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Nevada. However, they have also been found in CA, Utah, Arkansas and parts of Kansas. But as a rule they aren't seen past the Mississippi River.
