∙ 9y agoBarack Obama received his bachelors degree from Columbia University in New York in 1983, after transferring from Occidental College in Eagle Rock, CA, near Los Angeles. He spent a couple of years in New York City working for a business. Then moved to Chicago to take a job as a community organizer and an advocate for the poor in Chicago, as part of a Catholic charitable organization.
He worked there for five years, and then went to Harvard Law School, where he served as editor of the Harvard Law Review. After he earned his law degree (with academic honors) in 1991, he practiced civil rights law and taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School for nearly 12 years.
In 1996, he became an Illinois State Senator, and served three terms. He was elected U.S. Senator from Illinois in 2004. He won the 2008 presidential election, and became president officially on January 20, 2009.
Barak Obama worked for a short while for a business in Chicago. He would later go onto law school and then ran for the Illinois State Senator Position in 2004.
