Why did early buddhists believe Buddha could not be painted?

The Buddha specifically forbade his followers from making statues or other items depicting him for fear that they would turn him into a deity or start worshiping him. As time past this obviously was not followed. This explains why all artistic depictions of Buddha are different, because there are no images of Buddha from his time lifetime.

Why did some Hindus came to honour Gautama Buddha as an Incarnation of Vishnu?

When a Hindu, by name Siddhartha, founded a new religion called Buddhism about 2,500 years ago, Hindus said that it was nothing but the central part of Hinduism and is based on the central Hindu god Vishnu. Buddhists countered it saying that there is no god in Buddhism. When Hindus started getting converted into Buddhism they felt that absence of a god made Buddhism unattractive. Therefore, they started worshipping idols of Buddha,Thus, during the early stage of Buddhism, some Hindus and Hindus who got converted into Buddhism considered Buddha as an incarnation of Vishnu. However, unlike other incarnations of Vishnu, Buddha is not compatible not only with other Hindu gods but also with other incarnations of Vishnu. Therefore, most Hindus don't consider Buddha as an incarnation of Vishnu.

What beliefs did Buddhism borrow from Hinduism?

Buddhism does not borrow any belief from any other religion. Buddhism is the teachings of the Buddha, who possessed the golden omniscience, which refers to 'the ability of knowing everything without the help of anyone or anything'. That is, everything the Buddha preached is independent of any other belief and besides, the Buddha's teachings are not beliefs, they are universal truths (the four noble truths, etc.) which were practically found by the Buddha himself.

What is the difference between Gandhi and Buddha?

I know the difference between the two Buddha's but forgive me, for I do not remember the name of the type of Buddhism that uses each. (I believe one began with an M and the other a T) First off, there was a divide among the people if Buddha was a god or just a teacher. Those who thought he was a god went their own separate way to practice their religion based on Buddha (Siddartha Gautama) as a god. While the other group practiced his teachings as a great teacher and not a god. Therefore, the meditating Buddha represents the Buddhists who believed he was a teacher and Lord Buddha was a god.
