What did David mean when he said the Lord would not leave his soul in hell?

The scripture mentioned is found at Psalm 15:10, and it says "Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt thou give thy holy one to see corruption."(Douay) This was a messianic prophecy, written by David, to show what would happen to the Messiah when he came. Jesus Christ was in "hell" (Hades/Sheol) for parts of three days, but, as indicated, his body would not be left rotting in the ground(corrupted), but rather, he would be resurrected. The apostle Peter applied this scripture to Jesus at Acts 2:27-32, and it is varified at 1 Corinthians 15:20.

Though often viewed as a 'firey place of torment' by many people, The Bible actually indicates that "hell' simply means 'the grave', so Jonah could say "I cried out of my affliction to the Lord, and he heard me: I cried out of the belly of hell, and thou hast heard my voice." (Jonas 2:3, Douay) and Job could say "Who will grant me this, that thou mayst protect me in hell, and hide me till thy wrath pass, and appoint me a time when thou wilt remember me?" (Job 14:13, Douay)(Genesis 3:19)
