Not really a role in the September 1939 German invasion of Poland. Great Britain was an ally of Poland, however was unable to assist Poland. Australian ships/crews were deployed to the Atlantic Ocean & Mediterranean Sea to assist the British Royal Navy. Australian pilots were deployed to France & Britain (& later North Africa) to assist the British RAF. Australian soldiers deployed to North Africa to reinforce the British Army.
