He perfected the assembly line form of production. One man doing one job over and over while the car moved forward from worker to worker. He even used the wooden packing crates for parts he received from suppliers as part of the car he was building. In essence he got these wooden parts free. He started out painting his cars red, green, & blue, but later changed to all black because the paint was cheaper and dried faster. The price of his Model T fell from $850 in 1909 to $250 by the 1920s.

Who were Henry ford's competitiors?

When Henry Ford first built the Model T in 1908 and sold it at a price of $850 he really had no competitors in that market. All of the cars being sold at the time were very expensive and did not compete with the model T. The model T got cheaper as the years went by and in the 1920s was selling for $250. It was not until the 1930s that Ford got serious competition and that was from Chevrolet.
