He separated the English from the Roman Catholic Church.
He dissolved the monasteries and confiscated their lands, which were used for his own profit, or, from his perspective, the good of the country.
He built up the Royal Navy
He made England into a world class power.
He united England and Wales legally (by which I mean, from the point of view of laws, not that it was legal to do so)
