Himmler felt pushed aside by Hitler's constant entourage and planned to succeed Hitler. He made negotiations with the Allies; when Hitler found out about these negotiations he ordered Himmler's immediate arrest. Himmler escaped only to be caught by the British and eventually committing suicide using poison.
