After Japan took over Korea, Korea was treated badly. Even though Japan does not admit, Koreans were forced to speak Japanese, believe their religion, and many other Japanese customs. If not, they were executed or tortured. Japan also did many unfair things to Koreans such as scientific human tests, selling them as slaves, and destroying their monuments. The relationship between Japan and Korea is similiar to the relationship between Germany and Poland in WW2.

Japan had Korea in their Imperial Realm for a long time before World War 2. In the early 20th Century Japan made a treaty with Korea which involved the Japanese ruling Korea. The Japanese modernized Korea which did not have much electricity or modern transportation. Though the Koreans wanted to be independent they did benefit from the improvements the Japanese brought to Korea. Some disliked the Japanese control and others just let them have a free hand in ruling over them. WW2 changed the Korean's attitude toward the Japanese because they had been forced to fight in the Japanese military in 1939. They were also forced to do war manufacturing and other tasks. Japanese would put splinters under the Koreans finger nails to test their pain tolerance. Japanese treated Koreans like Hitler treated Jewish people. Also, Japanese would strip Koreans of their culture during their attempt to take over Korea. Japanese wouldn't let Korean people speak Korean otherwise they would be tortured, sometimes killed. Japanese men would rape Korean women, most of them being virgins (can't say all because there is no proof, but the majority of them were virgins).Yet, Japan do not apologize to both china and Korea. Actually they are proud of what they have done.
