Jesus Christ went to the cross of Calvary dying there and taking all of mankind's sin with Him, thereby paying the price for our sin that if we accept Him as Savior we will inherit eternal life in heaven with Him. He also was resurrected by the Father proving that the Father accepted Jesus' sacrifice as worthy to save mankind.

He was the perfect sacrifice for our sin as He was sinless as a Man and as God (God can not sin).

Salvation does not come automatically. You have to accept Jesus as your personal Savior. John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me."
