Jesus knew what they would be facing face
What you sow -you will reap. When you die, you are faced with yourself. If you deny the existence of the Source/Creator, you create a situation in a new life by incarnating into the hell you create. Jesus knowing what his tormentors had to face in order to evolve through many lifetimes/eternities, it would be a fiery hell for them. It was out of compassion/wisdom that he asked God to forgive them.
Very close. A statement close to this was recorded to have been spoken by Jesus while He was being crucified and is found in the Gospel of Luke 23:34. The difference is Jesus said, "Father forgive them..." since as God, the Son, Jesus is also God along with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Wording usually depends on the English translation in use. Jesus taught us to call God, Father is the only difference. Here it is:
Luke 23:34King James Version (KJV)34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
During Jesus's Crucifixion, when He was dying. (However, these were not the last words He spoke.)
the people who were crucifiyng Him
On the cross Jesus asked god to forgive them, that is all mankind.
God
Jesus Said to forgive them. Luke 23:24 Father,Forgive them for they do not know what they do.
Jesus may have said, "Father, forgive me, for I have sinned".
Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
He said, 'Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing'.
Jesus forgives any one that asks for forgiveness. Plus Jesus said this while on the cross, "Father, forgive them; they do not understand what they are doing." (Luke 23:34).
Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them they know not what they do."
Jesus said a lot about the golden rule. He taught us THE OUR FATHER “ forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
In Luke 23:34, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Apparently, it was at the beginning of the crucifixion. He said it because the Roman soldiers (1) were only following orders -- it was their job, and (2) it was something that had to be done to follow God's plan to save us from sin and death.
Lord Jesus said these words from the cross at Calvary.
Jesus wants to forgive us because he died on the cross for us! He didn't have to, but he did. John 15:13 says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Also, as Jesus was on the cross, He said in Luke 23:34, "Father forgive them, they know not what they do."
the red print in the bible are lines that Jesus said * Jesus said Allegedly
This was in direct response to a question asked by one of His disciples. So, it would have been directed to them, although probably others were listening.
