Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856-May 5, 1919] created the royal histories of the peoples of the beautiful, enchanted, magical land of Oz in the form of Fairy Tales for the enjoyment of children. He wrote 14 books in his adventure series. The first, The Wizard of Oz, always has been the best known and most loved. It was made into a highly regarded and widely watched film in 1939.
