What does the Gettysburg Address state?

Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.

mainly he condemned the use of total war in any country against itself and offered forgiveness to the South, as it was not entirely their fault. he stated that the right government had been found, and had caused this great war. but it was only the country's fault that the war had been started.

He highlighted the fact that liberty and equality were the core components for the emancipation of America. Lincoln urged the common man and politician to consider the lives lost in the attempt to save the nation from colonization, and pay tribute to the unsung heroes. He emphasized on the fact that the Gettysburg Address may be forgotten in time, but not the soldiers who willingly laid down their lives. He urged the gathering to take up the cause and complete the task at hand, to usher in a government 'of the people, by the people and for the people'.

In just two minutes, Abraham Lincoln was able to invoke the aspects of the civil war and the impact it has. Lincoln includes our history, about the American Revolution when he says "four score and seven years ago," which reminds us that only seven years ago our founding fathers fought for this lands independence. Which then leads us to the amazing Declaration of Independence they wrote, noting that it states "all men are created equal." In my opinion, Lincoln is basically questioning our nation on whether it can handle the independence, because only after a few years the Declaration of Independence was written we had a war fighting for slaves. However, then Lincoln tells our nation we are brave and explains how the war they just went through was not an easy one, many valiant men gave up their lives for their freedom and it was incredibly noble. Lincoln then states how his speech won't go far in history but the battle will, which is extremely ironic considering more people know about his "famous speech," than they do the actual Battle of Gettysburg. Lincoln then declares that the Civil war was a difficult struggle for our freedom, which pays off in the unification of our nation.
