Answer
It was legal. Under the law during that time, a provisional government is allowed to be set up if the acting one (The Council of Assiniboia in this case) was not recognized by the people. Louis Riel and the other Métis did not recognize this government, so they set up their own provisional government.
At the time just before the Red River Resistance, there was no government. Riel wanted to maintain order in the Red River Settlement and negotiate the terms under which Rupert's Land and the North-western Territory would become part of Canada.
Interesting question because Canada claims it was illegal and since might makes right, winners write the history, those with gold writes the rules.....
The answer would have to use some moral grounds. The Hudson Bay company sold the land claimed by Riel's government to Canada. BUT that land included people who have very legitimate legal and moral claims to the land. Rightful claims that were ignored in the sale.
When Canada refused to acknowledge those rightful claims it was completely legal for the people to create their own government to administer their own lands, particularly since they were under military threat from Canada.
He leaded the government to negotiate with the Canadian government for Manitoba.
He was basically the leader.
The best brief description of Louis Riel is "clever but unbalanced." Riel's sanity during the so-called Red River Rebellion (the formation of the provisional government in 1868-70) is questionable. His legal analysis of the situation which led to the formation of the provisional government, however, was quite sound. There is little doubt among historians concerning the period during which he led the North West Rebellion of 1885. Riel was then clearly not sane.
It is legal starting at the age of 18. You can have a provisional driver license since the age of 16 though.
Louis XIV's mother, Anne d'Autriche (English: Anne of Austria), queen consort of Louis' late father, was regent from 1643 until 1651, when Louis reached the legal age of 13. She went on participating to the King's council for ten years.
He was deported to his native land of Jamaica, due to legal issues with the government.
There probably is not a good response to this one. Unfortunately Somalia is a 'failed state', which means that there is no functioning stable government. They are in serious trouble.
you cant because it is not legal
