Wheelus Air Base was created in 1923.

Casey Base was named after Richard Gardener Casey who was an Australian Politician.
Wheelus Air Base (the word force was not used to describe an Air Force Base outside of the US) was around 5000 service men , dependents and American support personel. It had the largest BX (base exchange) outside of the US of all military branches . Leaving Libya was not by US choice.
Admiral Byrd named his bases Little America.
Joint Base Balad was named in honor of Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, the president of Iraq from 1968-79.
All of Byrd's bases were named Little America.
the word FORCE was not pol correct. I was stationed at Wheelus AFB Libya and the word force was left out of alot of listings. Gary Whitney
