The Boston Tea party was a result of the British LOWERING the tea tax on British tea to the colonies. They were trying to under cut the Dutch smugglers who were selling a lower cost tea to the colonist and by making the tax less they cut the cost of British tea. One of the big colonial smugglers was Hamilton who arranged to have the tea thrown into Boston Harbor as a protest. The myth of the of men dressed as Indians and protesting a higher tea tax came many years later and seems to have stayed around as fact. It is not a true story.
