Well, Mitt Romney isn't a president (yet)... but he has worked as Governor of Massachusetts and is a sucessful businessman. Most noteably, he is an executive for Bain Capital.
former Governor,Massachusetts
No, Mitt Romney did not work for Office Depot. He is primarily known for his career in business, particularly as the co-founder of Bain Capital, and for his political roles, including serving as the Governor of Massachusetts and as the Republican nominee for President in 2012. His professional background does not include employment at Office Depot.
Romney says lowering taxes on corporations will encourage job growth, which will mean more cash coming in from more people working. This idea has been done before, and it worked.
Mitt Romney did not own Staples, but he was involved in its founding through his work with Bain Capital, a private equity firm. Bain Capital invested in Staples in the early 1990s, helping to grow the company significantly. Romney's role in the firm contributed to his reputation as a successful businessman, but he was not a direct owner of Staples.
If Mitt Romney were to become president, he would likely focus on economic growth, fiscal responsibility, and bipartisanship. He has expressed a commitment to addressing issues like healthcare reform, tax policy, and national security, aiming to create a stable environment for businesses and families. Additionally, Romney may prioritize rebuilding relationships with international allies and addressing climate change through market-based solutions. His approach would likely involve a mix of conservative principles with a willingness to work across party lines.
No, Mitt Romney has never held that job. Barack Obama was the one who worked as a community organizer and an advocate for the poor, at a Catholic-run charitable organization in Chicago.
Yes. Mitt Romney has been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) his entire life. He served two years as a volunteer missionary in France in his early 20's, and also served as a volunteer leader of congregations in Massachusetts for several years in the 1980's and 1990's.
To our knowledge, Mr. Romney has no addictions. He is a religious Mormon, and does not smoke or drink or take drugs. Some of his critics might say he is a workaholic, and is addicted to work, but there are many people about whom that could be said.
It depends on who is answering the question. President Obama's supporters believe he inherited a disastrous situation from President Bush and helped to make things much better, against difficult odds that included a world-wide global economic crisis. The supporters of the president also point to his many accomplishments, including the rescue of the auto industry, ending the Iraq war, the reform of health care (expanding access to millions of Americans), championing legislation that gives women equal pay for equal work, leading the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden, etc. But the president's opponents disagree. Mitt Romney and his supporters believe the president has not turned the country's economy around and that he has been a failed president. Mr. Romney believes he can do a better job than President Obama did. Only time will tell which candidate wins the 2012 election.
Mitt Romney served for several years as the leader of a Mormon congregation (Bishop) and as the leader of a local group of congregations (Stake President) in Massachusetts in the 1990's.Mormon clergy never recieves a salary. Although Mitt Romney was required to devote 20+ hours a week to his church duties, he received absolutely no payment for this service and was required to also work a full-time job to support his family.Within the Mormon Church, every member is assigned a duty, such as leading a congregation, teaching a class, cleaning the building, or providing music. Everyone works together to make the congregation operate. These responsibilities are assigned (there is no applying or campaigning for higher positions), the responsibilities rotate, and nobody gets paid. It is simply expected of church members to contribute to their congregation. You can learn more about this at the "Related Links" below.
Ann Romney, Mitt Romney's one and only wife, the only woman he has ever been married to, been in love with, or had any type of intimate relationship with, gave birth to all 5 boys, Tagg, Matt, Ben, Josh, and Craig. Those 5 sons are themselves faithful husbands and fathers. In fact, if more men held their wives with the same regard that Mitt has for Ann, I'm convinced we would have fewer divorces, happier marriages, stronger families, a stronger economy, and a stronger America. And btw, Ann Romney also raised those 5 boys by herself (of course, she may've had some help from Mitt, but let's be honest -- it's the moms who do most of the work!) Anyway, the Romney boys did not grow up with a staff of maids, butlers, and nannies.
First, it is not fair to say that Mr. Romney is a "bum." Even his opponents cannot deny that he is a wealthy and very successful business executive. But that said, the main political accusation against him is that he only cares about the rich and will do nothing to help the poor. How you see Mr. Romney will depend on your political point of view. If you are a Democrat, you will undoubtedly agree with President Obama, who believes that Mitt Romney cares more about helping big business than about helping ordinary citizens. Mr. Obama believes that Mitt Romney's policies would result in huge tax breaks for the already-wealthy while doing very little to help the poor. But Mr. Romney's supporters in the Republican Party disagree with this assessment. They believe that his policies would help put people back to work. Mr. Romney and the Republicans believe that by helping big business, you do help ordinary citizens, since big businesses create jobs. As for the assertion that Mitt Romney is "lying" about President Obama, sad to say, politicians often exaggerate or distort the record of their opponent in order to score political points. It is not something I personally agree with, and I wish they would all be more accurate. But political exaggeration has been going on for hundreds of years, and this year is no exception. This is why it is so important for voters to examine non-biased fact-checking sites and see for themselves. Voters should also be careful of the claims made in political commercials, many of which make scary assertions based on doctored quotes or things the other person never said. Some fact-checking sites have indeed complained that a Mitt Romney ad, the one where he says President Obama removed the work requirement for welfare recipients, is totally false; one fact-checking site gave Romney's ad "Pants on Fire," the rating given when a political claim is a total lie.
