For forty years, the Israelites gathered manna in God's test of their obedience, with no manna on the seventh day (Ex.16). For forty years, God taught them the seven-day week, the observance of the Sabbath and drummed it into their routine. A routine quite different from their past 400 years in slavery.

Moses continued to enforce the laws of God among the people, delegated authority to others to assist him in his task, and made judgments among the people over disputes... and communed with God on behalf of the people.

It was pretty much everyday, routine leadership stuff in the day-to-day goings on in the lives of the Hebrews as they made encampments, packed up and moved to new encampments... till the day he died.
