Engineers researching thin-film coatings for spacecraft in the late '80's - early '90's at NASA's Lewis Research Centerdeveloped a system of depositing Diamond-like Carbon (DLC)coatings on aerospace systems . The process, using ion deposition, adds DLC to thin substrates, giving them maximum protection at significant cost savings.
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc, received a license to the NASA patent for DLC. This led to the creation of the DLC spinoff technology company Diamonex.
Diamonex further developed the process into DiamondHard, which was eventually used as the scratch-resistant coating on Ray-Ban Survivor sunglasses. DLC and other scratch resistant coatings are used on camera lenses and CD/DVD/BD disks.

Yes, cat scratching posts can help trim a cat's nails naturally as they scratch on the post, which can help prevent overgrown nails and the need for trimming.
Yes, Invent Help can provide you with patent information for your invention.
Ignoring your cat scratching at the door may reinforce the behavior. It's important to address the underlying reason for the scratching, such as boredom or wanting attention. Redirecting the behavior or providing alternative outlets, like scratching posts, can help.
NASA has no single address, but the link below will help you find the one you need (find the NASA Centers link on their home page).
NASA didn't at first try and make enriched baby food. They first wanted to make an algae that would help with recycling in long space explorations. The baby food came out of this, because when the algae for recycling didn't work they realized that the algae or acids helped children or infants with mental and visual development. :)

No she did not invent something that help people.
To prevent your cat from scratching the mirror, you can try placing double-sided tape or a scratching post near the mirror to redirect their behavior. You can also provide alternative scratching surfaces and toys to keep them entertained. Additionally, using deterrent sprays or covering the mirror with a cloth when not in use may help discourage scratching.
