A group of Pennsylvanians who wanted to replace the state constitution also wanted to replace the Articles.
The Articles of Confederation (full name: Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union), drafted in June 1776, allowed the States to retain the sovereignty in most areas. The federal government operated under the Articles of Confederation from 1777 until 1789, when it was replaced by the more comprehensive US Constitution.

After 1776, the American colonies ruled themselves under The Articles of Confederation. It was the original Constitution of the U.S., which was later replaced by the U.S. Constitution in 1789.
The Articles of Confederation was the early U.S. constitution (1781 - 89) under the government by the Continental Congress, replaced in 1787 by the United States Constitution. It provided for a confederation of sovereign states and gave the Congress power to regulate foreign affairs, war, and the postal service, to control Indian affairs, and to borrow money.
Independence Hall in Philadelphia was the meeting place for the Second Continental Congress, which governed the new nation-to-be from 1775 to 1783, the whole Revolutionary War period. The details of the Declaration of Independence were hammered out here and was adopted by the Congress on July 4, 1776. Five years later, the Articles of Confederation were adopted. The document that was actually written in Independence Hall, however, was the U. S. Constitution in 1787.

Common Sense, written by Thomas Paine in 1776.
The pilgrims had nothing to do with the Article of confederation. They established a colony in 1620. The Articles of confederation were AFTER the revolution in 1776. There is over a hundred years difference.
The Answer for your question is yes, because after the Declaration of independence in 1776. The Articles of Confederation later was created it stated that there was not to be a president, taxes, army and no court system and it basically sucked so in 1787 they Created the U.S Constitution, basically knows as the "Rule Book" in how the Government System works.
The Colonies wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. After 5 years of war with the British a peace treaty was signed and Congress wrote the Articles of Confederation. They didn't work well so after a couple of years they met to write the Constitution. Also in the year 1776, Thomas Paine published his work entitled "Common Sense".
