That would depend on the direction.

Saul was traveling to Damascus to further his persecutions of Christians, when he encountered a meeting with the risen Jesus Christ who asked him why he was persecuting Him. After some dialog, Paul was stricken with blindness for a number of days. Afterwords, his name was changed from Saul, to Paul.

Paul went to the high priest before his journey to Damascus; therefore, he departed from Jerusalem.

Acts 9:1, 2 - Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. [NKJV]
