Eleanor Roosevelt was a very dynamic person and after her husband died, she maintained her commitment to making a positive impact on American society. She continued her involvement with politics (although she declined requests that she run for office), and she became a vocal advocate for human rights-- in fact, she became chair of the UN Commission on Human Rights. She also was an advocate for improving the status of women, and served as an adviser during the Kennedy administration. She was also frequently a guest on both radio and TV, discussing the causes she cared about.
