Various sites speculate over the exact date of his death, but most agree that it was on October 21st (or the 18th) 1931. I have a copy of a telegram from Edison's attending physician, Dr. Hubert S. Howe stating that Thomas Alva Edison quietly passed away at 3:24 am on October 18, 1931. He died at his home, now part of the National Park Service, in Llewellyn Park, West Orange, NJ.

Hi! I think that the most famous inventor would be Thomas Edison, he invented the light bulb, but its really based on your opinion.
Unless there were cousin marriages in his ancestry, Thomas Edison had 64 great great great great great grandfathers, most of whom will be unknown to history as they likely lived around 200 years before Edison himself.
Benjamin Franklin did not invent the light bulb. He conducted experiments with electricity. Thomas Edison was the inventor of the light bulb. However, as with most inventions, Edison built upon the work of others.

Tesla worked for Thomas Alva Edison for 1 year. At that time, the most important "inventor" in the world was named Thomas Alva Edison-the so-called wizard of Menlo Park.... Edison was credited with the invention of the DC dynamo and the electric light bulb . . . but the only thing he really invented was the ELECTRIC CHAIR!! Tesla was the real inventor and genius.
Edison produced his most important inventions at Menlo Park, New Jersey 1876-87.
