William the Conqueror had three castles built during his time. The three buildings are Corfe Castle, Nottingham Castle, and Warwick Castle.

He was born in France.
William duke of Normandy.
William was crowned king of England. He couldn't be king of Normandy because it was, and still is, part of France; and the king of France would not have allowed that.
He thought that William Duke Of Normany would attack first so put most of his kinghts down south. Some of corse were at the top. When Harald Hadrada attack only half or less of the army were there so they had to march up to meet him. So he was planning the defence from William Of Normany.
He was blood-related to Edward (cousins) and varius people say Edward and Harold Godwinson promised him that he could be King.:)
William duke of Normany built "Motte and Baily", Castles, as after he became king the villiagers rebelled, as they didnt agree with him being on the thrown, so he had to build a place where there was safety and where it was high up, but as it was made out of wood it was defenseless during attack, also it could set on fire easily.William built the square keep and the motte and bailey.Hopes this helps.
england.......i think!
Rouen in Normany, France.
His Motte and Bailey Castles were well defended and easy to build, while being very cheap too. King Harold Of England didn't have very good castles.
Tom Brokaw was walking the Normany beach about 30 years ago, and talked to a number of the soldiers who had invaded the Normany beaches 40 years before. He wrote a book called "The Greatest Generation", because these people had grown up during the Great Depression, then fought during the Great War, and then gone home to build the greatest economy the world has ever known.
