He was blatantly racist for one--saying that Natives were not fit to lead but to be lead. He also advocated the use of a sort of 'gas' weapon, very similar to what the Nazis used in the death camps. He was an alcoholic as well and had many character flaws.

In World War One Churchill devised a plan to knock Turkey out of the War by attacking the Dardenelles from the sea.

The campaign was a total failure and many soldiers from Australia and New Zealand were killed before the British withdrew. 200,000 men died, Churchill was sacke dfrom the Admiralty and eventually became an infantry commander on the Western Front.

During the early stages of World War Two he suffered a repeat of this when, in the same job as 1st Lord of the Admiralty, he devised a plan to draw the Germans into Norway, where the British could trap them from the sea and wipe them out.
Once again the plan failed and although the British sunk a number of important German ships, Norway was occupied by the Nazis. Amazingly, Chamberlain the British Prime Minister resigned and Churchill took his place.

When the threat of war with Japan was immanent Churchill dispatched two Battleships to Singapore to strengthen the British military presence in the area. Without air cover the two ships were sunk within days of Japan declaring war. Once again Churchill's decision over naval matters was completely At Fault.

At Yalta Churchill failed to stand up to Stalin over the post war status of Eastern Europe, which among other things resulted in the occupation of Poland for another generation, after Britain had gone to war to protect it.

Churchill also agreed to return all POW's from Eastern Europe into Stalin's hands.
