A huge front wheel, with pedals at the hub, trailed by a much smaller rear wheel. The rider sat almost on top of the huge front wheel.
Don't know any penny bikes, but there were penny-farthing bikes. These had really big front wheels, with the pedals attached directly to the wheel axle, and a quite small rear wheel.
The new penny farthing bike model features a large front wheel and a smaller rear wheel, providing a unique and vintage look. The benefits include a smooth and comfortable ride, increased visibility in traffic, and a sense of nostalgia for cycling enthusiasts.
The penny-farthing bike, with its large front wheel and small back wheel, offers a unique vintage look and a high riding position. It provides a sense of nostalgia and a distinctive riding experience compared to modern bicycles. However, it lacks the advanced technology and comfort features found in modern bikes, such as gears, brakes, and suspension systems.
To a numismatist, FAIR condition describes a coin that is so worn you can barely determine the type and date, so if it is really in this condition, it is worth nothing. If it is in a bit better condition, it still has no significant value and may even be found in a dealer's "junk box" for 25 cents.
Please post a new and separate question. Pennies and farthings are old British coins but they're different. One farthing was a quarter of a penny - the name comes from old English and roughly meant a "fourth of a thing" (!) OTOH a "penny farthing" is a variety of bicycle ... yes, you can look it up.
It wasn't. The bone shaker was an earlier type of bicycle with even-sized wheels. It had no drive mechanism as such. The rider straddled the bike and pushed off against the ground with his feet. It usually had wooden spoke wagon style wheels, which together with the poor roads at the time and no way to take the weight off the saddle made it a jarring ride.
The modern penny farthing bicycle features a large front wheel and a smaller rear wheel, providing a unique and vintage look. Its benefits include a smooth and comfortable ride, improved visibility for the rider, and a sense of nostalgia and style.
Riding a big front wheel bike, also known as a penny-farthing, offers advantages such as a higher vantage point for better visibility, a smoother ride over rough terrain, and a unique and stylish look. However, it requires more skill to ride and can be more challenging to mount and dismount compared to a traditional bicycle.
