first aid is very important. It can save your life.
In most cases, you must take Standard First Aid with CPR Level C before you can take an Advance First Aid or Advance Medical First Responder course. I personally have taken Standard First Aid with CPR Level HCP because I intend to take Advance First Aid later.

There are many places you can take classes for first aid training, cpr and other medical skills. Check locally first and I'm sure you'll find something.
It doesn't particularly matter what first aid supplies are carried in. It is recommended that a general first aid kid should be easy to grab and take somewhere. A backpack is an excellent option.
You can be certified either way but the best way to take the course for a first-timer is definitely to do it in person, because it is hands-on and you can physically try out the first aid activities with a model. If you are just recertifying your first aid then an online course might be a better option if you are comfortable with the actions involved.
