There is no valid answer as to whether or not the first aborignal American inhabitants (the Indian nations or natives) benefitted from European contact. In some European circles, most particularly the church, they benefitted from conversion (both of religious indoctrination and to enslavement) whether they realized it or not. Indians did in fact gain, in their own minds at least, early benefits in acquisition of iron age implements (guns and tools) and textiles (as opposed to only skins). Ultimately these advantages by an large proved to be of little worth . . . when it was too late.
