If they could catch the tiger, probably to make sandals or something to protect their bodies. But, first of all, they ate the tiger for sure. However, I think that the saber-toothed cat didn't live at the Ice age. They lived at the Eocene Epoch to the end of the Pleistocene Epoch (42 mya-11,000 years ago), existing for approximately 42 million years.
