Nothing. Mexico was in the middle of a civil war known as the Mexican Revolution (1810-1821). During those years however, Germany sent a telegram to Mexican President Venustiano Carranza, offering economic and military support to retake Arizona, New Mexico and Texas from the United States. Before Carranza could respond, the telegram was intercepted by British intelligence and handed over to President Woodrow Wilson, resulting in United States involvement in World War I.
Mexico did, but indirectly. In the middle of WWI, Germany sent a telegram to the Mexican president, known as the Zimmerman Telegram. In it, Germany offered financial and military support to Mexico to reclaim Texas, New Mexico and Arizona from the United States. Before Mexico could answer the telegram, it had already been intercepted by British operatives in Mexico City, and retransmitted to Washington. It enraged president Woodrow Wilson, who used the telegram to support the cause for entering WWI. It did.
Mexico World War I (WWI) brought immigrants from various countries, but the most number of immigrants came from one country; and that country was Mexico.
1. The US was entering WWI. 2. The Zimmerman telegram was intercepted; Germany wanted Mexico as an ally. To negate that...the US withdrew any excuses for any hostilities with Mexico; by withdrawing from Mexico.
There was no Summer Olympics in 1966. 1964 was hosted by Tokyo, Japan and 1968 games were hosted by Mexico City, Mexico.
"WWI" is an abbreviation for "World War I."
The allied Powers won WWI
The Zimmerman note, a not-so-secret telegram from the German foreign affairs minister to the President of Mexico intercepted by Americans. It proposed that, if Mexico teamed up with Germany against the US in WWI, Mexico could regain Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. This turned US public opinion, which was previously pretty neutral, against Germany.
WWI began 28 July 1914.
Germany was attempting to get Mexico as an ally. The US was headed for Europe in '17; didn't need to have to fight Mexico so close to home.
Because Germany told Mexico in the Zimmermann note that they should wage war on the US and when they won they could have some of their land back, such as Texas and New Mexico. So since we were being directly targeted, the US joined WWI.
There was the German attempt to get Mexico to enter WWI against the United States which was ignored by Mexico (For further information see the Zimmerman Telegram.) This was also the period of the Revolutionary intrigues of Emilano Zapata and Pancho Villa. The US had to contend with and defend against Villistasattacking across the border like the 9 March 1916 attack on Columbus, Mexico.
Because Santa Anna signed the treaties as a captive. there were two treaties, a public and a private. and the Treaties of Velasco had nothing to do with WWI, so I do not know why that is on there.
