What he actually said was, "Its one small step for a man - one giant leap for mankind." Check out U-Tube - 'What did Neil Armstrong say when he stepped on to the surface of the moon?' The a in "a man" got lost in translation so thts what he actually said.
He said "One step for man but a giant leap for mankind."
Houston, Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed. That is what Neil Armstrong said when Buzz Aldrin and he landed on the Moon. That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. That is what Neil Armstrong said when he first set foot on the lunar surface.
Buz Aldrin NOT Neil Armstrong! Neil Armstrong landed on the moon 10 minutes after Buz Aldrin did. They also went with Mike Collins who flew round the moon several times never actually stopping the rocket in space at all! So Neil Armstrong should not take all the credit because actually Buzz Aldrin landed first but if you want our science teacher o be happy say Neil Armstrong. :)

Nothing, because the Shuttle hadn't even been invented when man (apparently) set foot on the moon. Apollo 11 used a lunar module to land, not a shuttle.
