Slaves, learnt about the concept of freedom during the colonial times as they were not slaves before that. They used to work hard doing menial jobs, thus saving valuable time for their masters. There were some cultural assimilations also, which manifested later on and unleashed the diversity of human culture and customs before the entire world. Slavery actually begot an insight in the educated humans about humanity, deprivation and discrimination. We as a human, shouldn't never forget the hardships those slaves endured, irrespective of the fact that our ancestors were slaves or masters.
