Religion was a huge factor in the revolution from departing from England. By the time of the American Revolution, they believed church should be separate from state, similar to the French revolution. However, in the early years of the American colonies, some of them required everyone to follow the same religious beliefs and practices.
Let's take a moment and review the similarities between the two events: The French commoners brought up a new rising they were tired of the unfair majority of the Aristocrats and Church controlling the power of offering the majority since the Church wasn't taxed laws were passed unfairly effecting the 98% of the population the commoners. To answer your question Religion played a very big part of our countries beginnings. Deism was also popular during this time; the most famous deist was Thomas Jefferson. The first documents were created for the separation from England and laws to be passed these laws all were within the beliefs of the first colonists. Many of the colonists were Christians however Church attendance was the lowest it had ever been and many didn't want similar problems to occur in the new nation.

Freedom of worship is the freedom of an individual or community, no matter where they are(in a public or private place), to practice, worship, and observe their religion. It includes the teaching of religion, but does no mean that you must allow someone to teach you there religion. It is generally recognized to also include the freedom to change religion or not to follow any religion.

Christianity :)
Well your mom for starters! We can just blame her!
No Native American tribe has adopted Buddhism as a tribal religion.
I am Muslim and in our religion we do believe in ghosts as "Gin" they do exist and we do believe in them. It is in our religion.
The Goshute Indians practiced a traditional religion that involved animistic beliefs, with a focus on spirits in nature and the supernatural. They performed ceremonies, such as vision quests and dances, to communicate with spiritual beings and seek guidance. Christianity was later introduced by missionaries, leading to a blending of traditional beliefs with Christian teachings.
The concept of religion is a set of one's personal beliefs. If you believe that religion is make believe, that is your religion. Religion does not necessarily have any ceremonies attached.
