The Democratic Republicans supported strong state governments led by Jefferson. They believed that Republicans are responsible for welfare, security, child support, etc. Although they wanted a strong, active government, they still wanted to see the military cut back to keep the finances together as the Democrats promoted that a national debt was a bad. Jefferson believed that the French government had set a great example of individualism.

^^^This guy doesn't know what he's talking about, the democratic-republicans were NOT the democratic party. The Democrats were started about the time of Andrew Jackson, way after Thomas Jefferson

Democrats are:

Anti-war

Pro-abortion

Pro-homosexual

Pro-Socialism (look socialism up if you want to know what it is)

Pro-Government control of the individual (big government)

Anti-Capitalism

Anti-Constitution (look at gun control, obamacare, etc.)

Tend to be Enviromentalist

Anti-civilian gun possession

Anti-Christian

Basically they are the antithesis of our founding fathers, but that's just my opinion.
