The Whig Party, which ran its last candidate for president in 1852. The Republican Party was formed in 1854, and soon supplanted the Whigs.
They supported it. It was only the Republicans who were against slavery. In addition, the Democrats created the Ku Klux Klan.
There have been four presidential assassins. Booth, the man who killed Lincoln was still fighting the Civil War against the North. He was surely not a Republican and if he voted, he would have voted against Lincoln. The Democrats were split over slavery but those who supported slavery were mostly Democrats, so he may have considered himself a democrat. The three other assassins were clearly not democrats.
In 1858, it was evident that Lincoln opposed slavery. He said as much in his debates against Stephen Douglas, who was his opponent in the presidential race.
