I would partially yes, the monarchy was removed and the Republic established, so their goals were met, but I think that it was harder and that they met more resistance than was expected, and the cost, both in human life and monetary value was way more than expected. But to be honest, they traded one autocratic government for another, until Napolean rode roughshod over all they were trying to achieve.
