The Olmecs were the first civilization to rise in Mexico, around 1500 BC. They influenced the rest of the civilizations that flourished in Mexico and Central America, including the Aztecs and Mayans. Some examples of this influence include corn domestication, warfare, religion and human sacrifice.

One thing that the Mayans used that the Olmecs did as well was their city in new mexio.

When the Mayans came to be, they built on to the previous cities the Olmecs had built, making them much more stronger and modern. The Mayans also worshiped the Jaguar just

like the Olmecs did.

The Mayans took some of the Olmec's innovations and made them better. Other times Mayans just culturally borrowed Olmec's culture trait. For example the jaguar was the most important god for the Olmec civilization, and the Mayans 'took' it from them, but the jaguar was NOT their most important god.

Why do we know more about the Aztecs than the olmecs or Mayas?

We know more about the Aztecs than the Olmecs and Mayas because the Aztec civilization flourished later in history, during the 14th to 16th centuries, coinciding with European exploration and documentation. The Olmecs and Mayas, on the other hand, were earlier civilizations, with the Olmecs dating back to around 1200 BCE and the Mayas reaching their peak between 250-900 CE, leaving less direct historical records for us to study.
