To be honest they thought that the world was flat, and the sky was held up by four trees in the corners...AND that the world floated on a giant crocodile in a pond of lillies...and people believe their predictions?! What are they on about, just because some people say it, it does not mean it is true, i would not get so worked up about it, we have great scientists, and they say nothing, so do not believe what the Mayans say...as it is obviously rubbish!

∙ 14y agoAccording to the Mayan calendar, the 2012 date marks the end of what is called a "long Count," a cycle of 5,126 years. Mayans counted time in cycles called ba'k'tuns, 144,000 day cycles that add up to approximately 394 years. Thirteen ba'k'tuns equal one Long Count, and the current Long count, begun in 3114 BCE, will end in 2012 CE. But it's not the "end of the world" according to ancient Mayan predictions.

∙ 10y agoThe Mayan predictions are based on the Mayan calendar. The calendar ended in 2012, and everyone thought that meant they had predicted the world to end then. In truth, no one knows what the Mayans thought because they didn't leave any writing behind explaining the calendar.
