The tank. The word 'tank' originally was only used to not give away to any enemy spy or analist what is really was that was being developed: "tank" at the time only had the meaning of 'large receptacle for holding liquids".

A real name for the new invention was of course considered but no-one could come up with a catchy alternative name. So the name 'tank' stuck.
