I think you mean "why did the Roman Empire want Britain." The British empire began in the 1600s, twelve hundred years after the Roman empire fell and two centuries after Byzantine, the eastern half was conquered. Rome wanted the isle of Briton because it was a nation of soldiers and conquers and they wanted land and more taxes, as well as something for their soldiers to do.
The Christians of the Byzantine Empire did not want to recognize the pope in Rome as their leader, so in 1054 they agreed to divide from the Catholic Church and form their own branch of Christianity. This divide was called the great schism.
They wanted American products in foreign markets, not American flags flying over colonies overseas :)

The Romans did not inventChristianity, Christianity comes from Israel (or so the story goes believe what you want :D ) which was under Roman rule, apparently a so called messiah was crucified by the Romans. His followers went about starting the religion Christianity and the Romans killed Christians but steadily more people became Christian and even the Romans. in the 4th century AD the Empire declared Christianity its official religion. The Empire was split in 2 eventually and the western half fell in 476 AD but the Eastern half survived and was named the Byzantine empire after its capital Byzantium (later called Constantinople, today known as Istanbul). The Byzantine empire thrived with wealth and had a lot of influence. in the 12th century the empire was under threat from the Muslims in the East who were taking land in Israel and Palestine ( the Holy land). The emperor sent a message that they needed help to the pope in Rome and he influenced countries in Europe to fight in the Crusades (holy war). Eventually after the crusades the Empire fell to the Turks in 1453. Officially the Roman Empire fell in AD 476 but technically it lasted till 1453 as the Byzantine Empire (which originally was the Eastern Roman Empire
