No, it was Trebonius' job to take Mark Antony away from the Senate before the assassination; his hand would not have become bloody until he shook Antony's after the assassination.
Mark Antony did not meet the conspirators. He was vaguely warned of the plot by one of the conspirators, Servilius Casca, who was frightened. He went to the Theatre of Pompey where Caesar was heading, to stop him. However, Caesar arrived at the theatre before him. Antony feared that the assassination would be followed by a persecution of Caesar's supporter and fled Rome dressed as a slave. . When this did not happen he returned to Rome and negotiated a compromise with the optimates, the conservative political faction the conservators belonged to. Yes, but not immediately. Rome was in turmoil after Caesar murder and Antony and the Senate came to a loose compromise which rather rewarded the assassins but kept Caesar's acts in force as law. Then Octavian came on the scene and after a bumpy relationship with Marc Antony, they joined forces in a war of vengeance against Caesar's killers. Brutus believes that Antony is the same kind of person he is; a man who can be trusted to keep his word and act honourably. While Antony is suggesting that Brutus is dishonourable by calling him honourable, he himself is acting dishonourably by breaking the spirit of his promise to Brutus. Irony upon irony!
