When the First Continental Congress met in 1774, the members expressed their frustration with King George and his unfair laws.
King George III felt that the colonies had no right to form their own government as they were dutifully represented in the English legislature. He also felt that the colonies had no right to declare independence.
The right to life, liberty, and the right to assemble were three of the things listed in the signed petition that the First Continental Congress sent to the King. They also said they had the right to a trail by jury.
